My name is Alicia Zorn. I am the owner and founder of Foundations Counseling and Wellness Center, LLC. I have been a practicing clinician in SC for the past 20 yrs. I have worked in many arenas of mental health over the years; such as, running psych in ER/Hospital settings, hospice, nursing homes, jails, drug and alcohol facilities, etc… I enjoy working with a diverse population to include individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, Veterans, Grief/Loss, Couples/Marital issues, Bipolar and other mood related disorders. I accept patients ages 15-80 years old. While I can certainly work with any issues you present with, I tend to currently work most with individuals who are seeking help with depression/anxiety and couples! 

Rachel Cockrell

(Practice Administrator, BSW)

My name is Rachel Cockrell. I am the Practice Administrator, and I run the day-to-day operations here at Foundations. I am your billing and insurance issues guru! I have a multitude of experience in counseling; to include, working with people of all ages and with a focus on depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and geriatrics. This experience helps to give me an excellent overall understanding of therapy and allows me to better help you with navigating you towards achieving your goals with seeking therapy with one of our many clinicians.

 

Jennifer Cogdill

Administrative Assistant for the Back Office

My name is Jenny Cogdill! I was brought on to the team to help with the everyday administrative duties. I will be helping with billing, insurance and scheduling. My overall goal at the office is to help make sure everything is running as smooth as possible! I look forward to assisting you with whatever questions you might have!

Hannah Sanders

Masters in Clinical Counseling Intern

Hi, my name is Hannah Sanders, and I am working towards obtaining my Masters in Clinical Counseling from Charleston Southern University. I am set to graduate in May of 2024! Previously, I worked as an ABA therapist for children and adolescents. Typically I approach therapy through a cognitive behavioral lens, by helping individuals understand the interconnectedness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I believe that therapy is a collaborative approach and as your therapist my role is to guide you on a path that incorporates each of these areas to promote more self-awareness and healing.  I am supervised closely by Kayla Stephens, LISW-CP and Alicia Zorn, LISW-CP-S, PhD. 

 

Kayla Young

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker of Clinical Practice (LISW-CP) and one of my specialities is EMDR. I believe counseling is a collaborative process that allows individuals to increase self-awareness and strengthen their “tool boxes” in order to accomplish goals and have more meaningful life experiences. I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, particularly focusing on those with anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and grief/loss. By creating an environment that is trauma-informed and nurturing, and developing individualized treatment approaches, I hope to support and empower all those who enter my office! I look forward to helping you on your journey!

 

LYDIA LOZANO

(Clinical Supervisor) 

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker of Clinical Practice (LISW-CP). I am also credentialed with the Addictions Professionals of South Carolina as a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC).  My approach to therapy is to create a trauma informed environment in which you will feel safe to share your authentic experiences with me, however difficult it may be. My therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, attachment theory, and emotions focused therapy. I want to help you process emotions and experiences while also remaining solution oriented. My experience includes treatment of substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, and bipolar DO. I am also trained in Gotman approaches and work with couples/families. I love my job and I will show up every session to best support you through your mental health recovery. 

 

KRISTA DICKERSON

I am an LISW-CP, and I enjoy working with patients of all ages! I am focused on increasing awareness of mental health needs and access to services in every community I serve. Trauma and problematic sexual behaviors are strong areas of interest. Experience in servicing child, youth, and adolescent populations, but with a growing interest in developing programs for maternal health needs. I also enjoy working with families and couples!

Abigail Long

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker of Clinical Practice (LISW-CP). I served nine years in the military as a CADC mental health technician and have worked with an array of clients in different walks of life, to include the military, prison setting, children and families, and substance abuse. One of my specialities is EMDR to work with trauma patients. I believe every client is different and should be treated with individualized approaches and treatment plans. Continued growth is what helps us thrive in life and goal setting is a priority for me when working with you. Being that I believe each client is uniquely different, getting to know you from a big picture perspective is important and can be done through assessing life experiences in the family history, mental health, medical conditions, relationships, and trauma history. I have always been eclectic in my therapy and have experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and meditation practices. I look forward to helping you reach your greatest potential and becoming the healthiest version of you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

SHERI CARVALHO

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker ( LMSW) who is working towards becoming a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice (LISW-CP). After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from South Carolina State University, I completed my MSW from The University of South Carolina, Columbia. My social work career began in Columbia before relocating to Hanahan in 2014. My career has been working with adults, children and families within inpatient and outpatient. I have experience in both correctional and behavioral health settings. The appreciation of culture and being empathetic of children and families living with mental illness is my strength. My experience in therapy models include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy( CBT), solution focused and motivational interviewing techniques. I am skilled in working with a wide range of individuals that are living with trauma, depression, anxiety, and chronic illness. My skills of practice include an approach that is one of empowerment to assist in navigating through difficult times and meeting goals along the way. Together we can work to identify better ways to manage stress, establish emotional balance, and increase healthier relationships. I look forward to working with you.

Craig Legates

My name is Craig Legates, and I have earned a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Charleston Southern University. Recently retired from law enforcement after 28 years of service where I was given tremendous insight into the lives and situations that clients deal with on a daily basis. I work to structure therapy to fit your specific needs. Motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and attachment theory are examples of my treatment modalities. Currently I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and, prolonged exposure therapy (PE), for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. I have been fortunate to have worked with veterans, law enforcement officers, their spouses, and families as well as clients dealing with depression, anxiety, relational issues, and grief. I strive to meet the client where they are in life and walk with them on their journey to a healthier place.

Rhiannon Brown

I am an Associate-Licensed Professional Counselor (LPCA). I received my education & started my professional career of counseling in Pennsylvania and have recently moved to the area for a new beginning at the east coast. My approach in therapy is to create a strong therapeutic alliance where my clients feel trusted and safe to share their stories. I practice with a trauma-informed, cognitive behavioral foundation; focusing on the relation of one’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My ultimate goal is to meet clients where they are at and help assist them in finding their own path to healing while dealing with mental health symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss, bipolar, or attention-deficit disorders.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I believe that no matter who we are, we all experience unique challenges, whether we
are working through trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or are just feeling stuck and need a little help. Life can be difficult to navigate at times, so my goal as a
counselor is to offer a safe and judgment-free space for clients to share their stories, process difficult emotions/ experiences, and to find healing and empowerment to become the best version of themselves. I utilize various therapeutic interventions to help clients focus on their goals and make important steps towards positive change. I tend to use a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, but also utilize methods of Solution-Focused, Emotionally-
Focused, Systems, and other therapeutic approaches, depending on the best fit for the client’s individual needs. I try to understand clients holistically.  I look forward to partnering with you on this journey towards greater self-awareness, healing, and growth!

 

Andrea OrRell

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and am starting supervision to become a Licensed Independent Social Worker of Clinical Practice (LISW-CP). I have experience working in community mental health, schools, and non-profit agencies utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). My approach is strengths-based with a focus on promoting resilience, goal acquisition, and healing. I believe that creating a strong therapeutic alliance is the key to empowerment and successful outcomes. I enjoy working with all ages!

Theresa Olschan

My name is Theresa and I’m an LMSW, working towards obtaining my LISW-CP. I received my BSW from the University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut, immediately followed by my MSW from Fordham University. I began my career as an inpatient clinician and hospital social worker serving all ages, a variety of mental health issues, backgrounds, genders, and economic disparities. My primary focus as a hospital social worker was on the Labor and Delivery Unit as a support for new parents, particularly mothers. I also worked in the NICU supporting parents of premature babies. I’m extremely passionate about perinatal and postpartum mental health! Maternal mental health is no longer taking a back burner and you deserve to live freely without fears, sadness, and guilt. I have several years of experience in mental health and substance abuse including: depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflict, personality disorders, and overcoming addiction. I’m trained in CBT, DBT, and TF-CBT, utilizing all curriculums in my practice with my patients. I’m a strong believer in mindfulness and manifestation, which only adds to my therapeutic approach. Therapy is an empowering and dynamic process in and out of your session time, and I hope to support you as you grasp what this means and how we can move forward together!

Kimberly Lawton

My name is Kimberly Lawton, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who is working towards becoming a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice (LISW-CP). I received my education and started my social work career in New York City in 2012 before coming to Charleston in 2017. Much of my career has been working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. I have worked with many individuals who have experienced: trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss and bereavement, illness, relationship issues, major life transitions and challenges regulating emotions/managing stress. My goal in working with you is to support you in processing your life experiences and to empower you through the use of relevant therapeutic resources. These resources could include: cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art therapy, meditation/flow state, solution-focused therapy, and positive psychology. As a therapist, I also believe that taking a holistic approach is incredibly important to personal growth, which means examining all parts of your life: spiritual, physical, mental, nutritional, and relational. DANIELLE SHELTON

My name is Danielle Shelton, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who is working towards becoming a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice (LISW-CP). I received my MSW from Southern Illinois University. I’ve spent most of my career working with children in foster care, but also have experience working with people of all ages. My experience includes working with people who have trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship difficulties, those who struggle with managing behaviors, and regulating emotions. I believe that a holistic approach is important for change and growth. I utilize solution focused therapy, and have continued training in other treatment modalities such as TF-CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
